Sand Sort takes the tube-sorting puzzle formula and makes one change that transforms everything: the colors are sand, and sand flows. Where standard sorting games move rigid liquid blocks between containers, here every pour is a stream of particles that piles, settles, and slides. The puzzle underneath is familiar; the sensation is completely different.

The goal per level is simple — pour sand between tubes until each tube holds a single color. You can only pour onto matching colors or into empty space, and tube capacity is limited. These constraints generate the strategy: middle-game states often look hopelessly scrambled, and the skill lies in using your one or two empty tubes as staging areas without painting yourself into a corner.

What earns this game its rating is how the physics interact with the puzzle brain. Watching sand cascade into place delivers a low-level satisfaction that rigid sorting games simply cannot produce, and it keeps the experience pleasant even when a level fights back. Difficulty scales gently — early levels solve themselves, while later ones require genuine planning of pour order several moves deep.

Weaknesses are minor. Like all sorting games, the formula is repetitive by nature, and marathon sessions will surface that. Occasional levels can be brute-forced rather than solved, which slightly undercuts the puzzle design.
